It’s something *I* Can Do
If we, as ladies, have one universal weakness it would be this: comparing ourselves to one another. “I don’t look like HER.” “My clothes are not as nice as hers.” “I cannot sing/play piano like HER.”….and the list goes on. Even though we KNOW “Comparing ourselves among ourselves” isn’t wise (2 Cor. 10:12), we often do it anyway. With the rise in the use of social media it seems easier than ever to beat ourselves up with both real and imagined shortcomings. Only perfect pictures are posted on Facebook – and we compare those pictures of perfection to our own real life pictures. On Pinterest we see pictures of homes that are gorgeously decorated….using only bailer twine and a pallet, of course….and our homes are not so gorgeously decorated with Legos, doll clothes and a touch of graham cracker. It is easy to get discouraged and wonder if there is ANYTHING that *I* can do well.
Don’t lose heart – there is (at least) one that that every single lady on earth can do….and we can be really good at it. Faithfulness.
In a world where we really only do what we want to do and when we want to do it, it is needful to remember that God places a high importance on faithfulness.
I Cor. 4:2 “Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.”
Rev. 2:10b “…be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”
Here are a few (of many) things to which we can and should be faithful:
1. Bible Reading and Prayer
~are we as faithful spending time with the Lord as we are to our Facebook pages? To our TV shows? To our ‘free time’?
Psalm 55:17 “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.”
*God forbid that we go through our day trying to be the woman/wife/mother God desires in our own power and without the power and wisdom of God. We must faithfully seek God’s face to be all that we should be.
2. Being an ACTIVE, vocal witness
~soulwinning
~tracts
~one-on-one
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Proverbs 11:30 “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that winneth souls is wise.”
*Be ready to witness at all times. Carry tracts in your purse. If you are a mom with little ones, there may be some weeks that are difficult to get out and go door-to-door. If that is the case for you, ask God to bring opportunities to witness to you….and then be faithfully looking for them!!
3. Encouragement to others
~Write a note of encouragement.
~SMILE
~Look for ways to be a blessing to those around you.
I Thess. 5:11 “Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”
4. Praising God and being thankful
~develop an attitude of thankfulness. It is easy to notice what we DON’T have, but let’s faithfully praise God and be thankful for all we DO have.
I Thes. 5:18a “In everything give thanks…..”
Eph. 5:20a “Giving thanks always for all things unto God…..”
I may not be as talented as some. I may not be as rich as others. BUT, no matter my size, shape, talent or yearly income – I CAN BE FAITHFUL. It’s something *I* can do!!!!
