And Be Content

Heb. 13:5
Let your conversation (character, manner)  be without covetousness (not greedy) and be content (satisfied) with such things as ye HAVE: For he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.
God is saying YOU HAVE ME! You should be content with everything else.

God is telling us to be satisfied with what we have.
Be satisfied with your room, your house, your car, and your bank account. Look at it as what you DO have not as what you DON’T have.

Ps. 68:19 Blessed be the Lord who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. #1 benefit- our salvation!

Heb. 13:5 was put into the Bible thousands of years ago. That tells us that people have always had a problem with discontentment. How about EVE and the fruit? We could go on and on with Bible examples of discontentment leading to sin.

We live in 2016. We live in the richest country in the world. We not only have discontentment, but we have a lot of entitlement as well. We can get almost anything because of credit, but then, if we couldn’t afford it, it takes a good portion of our lives to pay it back. Ever wondered how a famous, super rich, and attractive, actor or actress (who seems to have it all) could commit suicide?!? Discontentment.  Satisfaction and contentment are not found in a new location or school, or in a bigger bank account. It’s not found in fame, or a better car or house, or nicer clothes.

It’s not bad to get new things as long as you can afford them. Also, don’t be ashamed if God has blessed you with nice things and a good situation. Be thankful for them, but we are not to be covetous of what we cannot have.

Discontentment can destroy our joy. As a Christian we are to be Christ-like. Our testimony is very important. We want to be like Him, we want to be joyful.

So…..WANT what you HAVE
Want your house, your husband, your town, your life, your church.
Want your hair, and your face.
Want your schooling method.
Want your room and all the stuff in it.
Want your clothes and your talents.
You can put make up on, you can dress to hide figure flaws, you can color your hair, and loose weight, you can budget and work hard to earn $ for what you want,
but you can’t change your body shape, your face shape, or your height. You can’t get longer legs. You can’t change your foot size or thinness or thickness of hair. You can’t change your age and go back, and you can’t jump ahead and be older.

SO stop being discontent about the things you can’t change. Love the age you are now. Love your big feet and short legs. Some people don’t have legs. Some people have unusable legs.

Love your friends, brothers, sisters, kids, husband, and your parents. Look at the good things about them. Some people don’t have them either. Be content in the place you are in life right now.

God wants us to be happy!
Happy is that people whose God is the LORD
PS 144:14

We can be if we choose to be content with what we have.  You have HIM and he promises to never leave you or forsake you. What could be better or more important?

Is there something (s) you HAVE that you’ve been discontent about? Is there something you can’t have that you’ve been coveting?
Change what you can, but CHOOSE today to be content with what you have. And preserve your JOY [Symbol]
