I Love My Bible!!
I love my Bible! It's a dirty Bible; the kind Marlene Evans taught us to have. There are notes in the margins, underlined verses, arrows from one verse to another--you get the picture. So often the Bible feels like pure, clean oxygen that allows me to breathe much more easily or like a cool refreshing drink that deeply satisfies like nothing else can. My local Baum's Health food store has an amazing juice bar. I told my husband that when I stop in for one of their concoctions, the very first swallow seems to make my body react with a, "Weeelllcccooome!" It's because my body recognizes the need it has for all of those nutrients it isn't getting anywhere else! (AND none of the bad stuff is involved!)
The Bible does that for me as well. My mind, heart and spirit feel fed, strengthened, healthy, cleansed and refreshed when the nutritious Words of God satisfy my spiritual needs and appetite. I get hungry everyday, and I find that only nutritious food really satisfies and does good things for my body. My mind, heart and emotions get hungry everyday as well--hungry for truth, wisdom and direction, and I find that only God's Word does good things for me there! We are bombarded on every side by spirituality that isn't Spiritual at all! I never have to worry about my Spiritual diet being well-balanced when I'm feasting regularly on God's Word!
"O, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Psalm 34:8.
